Saturday’s performance against Guisborough was much improved and the guys really showed the required effort to win a quarter-final.
Everyone has shown that they’re willing to stick together and front up and they really deserved to win the game on Saturday.
We blew them away a bit in the first half and then we really toughed it out in the second half against the elements.
When Guisborough wanted to mix it with us the guys really stood together and showed willing, and that’s an area that has always seemed a little fragmented.
I draw back to the times we played Bridlington and some people get a bit of a cuff and the team needs to stand together and they were going in ones and twos.
But the guys have really stood together and are improving in that area.
We can’t rest on our laurels now and need to put a winning streak together.
It will be interesting playing Selby on Saturday as we meet them in the Shield semi-finals a few weeks later.
It will be interesting to see how they’ve improved and we’re missing a few guys so Saturday will certainly be interesting.
Matty Oxtoby is struggling a bit with his neck and Graeme Jeffrey is going to be missing along with Tom Harrison, which is obviously a blow.
We’ve got a little bit of strength in depth in those areas so hopefully the guys who come in will put their hands up for a first-team spot.
I think the pitch won’t be in great condition on Saturday which will mean the game won’t be as quick as it was at their place earlier in the season.
That was a cracking game of rugby and I know the guys will be smarting from losing out that day.
The guys wanted it on Saturday and they went out there and did a job.
And they need to carry that forward now and maintain that streak until the end of the season.
That begins with Selby this coming Saturday.
