LEE DOUGLAS: Terrific Tom is making us tick again

A lot of people mentioned that Saturday’s win at York was our first success there in a long, long time.

It’s a very tough place to go and the guys were outstanding, especially in the first half when we blew them away.

We faded away a bit in the second half, but the guys dug in and had already done enough in the early stages to seal the win.

The whole performance was spot on, we played at the right times, didn’t force things and the guys really impressed me.

In the moments before half-time, York really battered our line, they were pushing hard to get some points on the board before the interval and had they narrowed the deficit it would’ve changed the complexion of the game.

Historically, we’d have caved in under the pressure and they’d have had the momentum going into the second half.

The whole team were superb and there were a number of fine individual efforts that stood out as well.

Tom Harrison, in particular, has been absolutely immense in recent weeks.

The poor lad just has to make decision after decision week in-week out, so to have Tomasz Chadwick back in there alongside him will certainly help.

Tom is playing as well as I’ve seen him play at the moment and long may that continue.

I have to praise a couple of our younger players in James Leach and Alex Renwick.

Rennie was outstanding in his first game for us and shone at outside-centre.

His tackling, commitment and ball handling was superb and as far as debuts go, you couldn’t really ask for more.

Leachy was again superb at number eight, he is really impressing me at the moment and was really giving me a headache until his injury.

We’re waiting to hear how bad his injuries are but he’ll definitely miss our home game against Old Crossleyans this weekend.

Isaac Faamau looks like a real handful and he impressed me after coming off the bench and it was also great to have Chadwick back in the squad as well.

Old Crossleyans won last weekend so they’ll no doubt come here looking to keep their form going, but I firmly believe that if we click into place we’ll blow any team away.

We need to be clinical and take our chances when they arise. If we do, I’m sure we’ll grab another victory.
