I was absolutely delighted with the response of the players at Bridlington after our two disappointing results recently.
We controlled the game from start to finish, and despite them having a good go at times, I was never worried that we weren’t going to win the game.
It really was a quality performance from the guys, but it didn’t just happen by chance.
I mentioned in my column last week that I was unhappy with the numbers we had turning up for training and that we’d never progress if more people didn’t turn up and put the effort in on a Tuesday and Thursday night.
It was no coincidence that we had a great training session on Thursday and then produced a brilliant performance on Saturday.
We did some exceptional team work on Thursday night and I was delighted that I got a response and also that the guys took that onto the pitch with them on Saturday.
On a personal note, it’s always nice to go back to your former club and get a win.
You always want to do well when you go to one of your former stamping grounds, and the guys should be really proud of their performance at the weekend, they were outstanding.
I thought young Hayden Ogilvie was outstanding again, he is developing really well for us and he takes my instructions on board and puts them into play exactly as I’d want them to be.
We look to have a real player in Eamon Chapman too. He really has hit the ground running and we certainly hope he can maintain that form for us.
We face a superb Doncaster team at Silver Royd on Saturday.
If we play like we did on Saturday then we will no doubt cause them some problems. We can definitely win the game.
