LEE DOUGLAS: Time to kick on

We started 2014 with a bang by beating Heath at Silver Royd on Saturday, but the guys know we have to kick-on and that starts at Bridlington this weekend.

In a lot of ways Saturday’s game is just another league match that the guys really need to be winning if we’re going to achieve our aims of pushing the top sides in the division.

When I came in here, the guys told me they wanted to finish in the top three, and we can still do that, but we can’t afford any more slip ups.

We’re looking in great shape going into 2014 and we have some good competition for places at the club now.

This week we welcome back our captain Phil Watson, as well as Nino Cutino. Phil is my captain and he is a class above as a leader.

He has great presence and leadership skills and it is a massive boost to have him back with us.

It will also be fantastic to welcome back Nino.

He is another first-class player and any team would be proud to have him in their ranks, I know he will be keen to come back firing on all cylinders.

Young Joe Lenton is really impressing me and he came into the first team and played well on Saturday.

Some of the players don’t seem to be implementing the message that I’m putting across in training, but Joe is really listening and taking it all on board.

The guys need to play the way I want them to, and he certainly does that.

Hopefully we’ll get plenty of support at Brid on Saturday and we can come back with the win for the club.
