Scarborough RUFC forwards coach and first team prop Jason Lowde was pleased with the progress made by the first XV squad after Saturday’s entertaining 46-40 win at Pontefract in Yorkshire One.
But Lowde was still unhappy with the team’s propensity to leak tries.
“It was a good performance, especially scoring six tries away from home although it was disappointing to concede four.
“However we had a series of injuries and unavailability to contend with this week.”
Lowde added: “We are steadily growing in confidence in our abilities and feel we can score tries in any game situation and the spirit within the squad was reflected in the fightback.
“Our midfield defence has improved with players getting game time together but we still have a lot of hard work to do.”
Lowde concluded: “We’ll be concentrating on unit skills on the training paddock this week with tight five drills a priority for the forwards.
“Next week we entertain bottom club Huddersfield YMCA and I can assure you there will be no complacency.
“We’ll be working harder than ever in training this week in preparation for the game.”
