A 28-12 win over Leeds-based visitors Yarnbury at Silver Royd saw Scarborough extend their unbeaten home record to four games this afternoon.

However, the Seasiders got off to the worst possible start, Yarnbury grabbing an early lead when lock forward Jack Falgate drove over from a catch-and-drive in the third minute.

Fly-half Jarrod Huss added the extras for a 7-0 lead.

Scarborough looked to strike back immediately but were thwarted by their over eagerness and some poor midfield handling.

However, fly-half Tom Harrison reduced the arrears at 7-3 in the 10th minute.

Having camped in the visitors’ 22 for almost 15 minutes, Scarborough took the lead in the 31st minute when prop Paul Taylor drove over from an attacking line-out and Harrison converted then added a penalty for a 13-7 lead at the break.

A try by prop Wesley Langkilde following a terrific break by flanker Ben Martin saw Scarborough stretch their lead to 18-7.

However they failed to secure the re-start and visiting winger Ellis Gomersall sprinted over to cut the lead to six points at 18-12.

Scarborough struggled after the hour and Yarnbury looked the likelier side to grab the points, but a penalty by Harrison in the 70th minute followed by a late Graeme Jeffrey try converted by Harrison saw coach Lee Douglas’ men to a 28-12 victory.
