The visitors were slow out of the blocks and fell behind to a converted try on seven minutes and they were lucky not to fall further behind five minutes later, the hosts crashing over in the corner only to have it chalked off due to a foot in touch.

It was a poor opening from Scarborough but on 17 minutes they sprung into life and young debutant Jonty Holloway went over.

Ribblesdale went over again only for Matty Young to level the scores after a flowing Scarborough move to make it 14-14 at the break.

The hosts struck first in the second half with a penalty before Young again went over in the corner to put Scarborough 21-17 in front.

In the closing stages ill discipline cost the visitors and a yellow card and a further penalty gave the hosts hope but Matty Jones' men dug deep to secure a 21-20 win, their first in Settle since 2002
