SRUFC: Danesmen destroy Brid but Vikings and Valkyries suffer losses

The Vikings suffered a narrow 10-7 defeat to Malton. Malton led, but the Vikings battled back as Connor Ward touched down.

Despite controlling the second half, the Vikings couldn’t pierce the stubborn Malton rearguard, and the hosts scored a second unconverted try to take the win.

Ward was man of the match.

The Vikings host Goole this weekend, 2.30pm kick-off.

David Rawling was the star man for the Danesmen in their superb 65-0 thrashing of Bridlington 3rds.

Alex Conlin, Gav Sharp and Dan Brookman all scored two tries apiece for the Scarborough third-string side.

The Danesmen are back in action this weekend when they welcome Pocklington to Silver Royd, with a 2.30pm kick off.

Scarborough RUC’s womens sides, the Valkyries, suffered a 76-0 defeat on the road at Bishop Auckland in their first game of the season.

Captain Jess Bray and her side battled throughout their season opener against their strong hosts.

Sam Knight was player of the match for the travelling Valkyries.

The Scarborough girls host Hartlepool on Sunday, 2pm.
