Makeshift Scarborough suffer Pock defeat

A depleted and makeshift Scarborough RUFC side were beaten 34-24 by Pocklington in their maiden pre-season friendly at Silver Royd on Saturday.

Played in three periods with lots of rotation of players, the North One East side dominated early on and two tries helped them to a 12-0 lead.

Isaac Faamau reduced the arrears with a try after peeling off a rolling maul.

Pock extended the lead before the first break, but Scarborough scored next to get themselves back in the contest.

Lee Douglas’ side dominated the next period of play but two tries from the visitors looked to have won them the game.

Jack Anderson went over after James Leach forced a Pock defender into spilling the ball, but Pock secured the game with a contentious try after what appeared to be a late tackle on Joe Lenton.

Scarborough scored the try of the game with a slick move to finish the game on a high, with the score finishing 34-24 to Pock.
