HAVING had their ‘friendly’ fixture at Malton last week cancelled, Scarborough returns to league action tomorrow as they travel west to take on third-placed Keighley in a game sure to impact on the Yorkshire One promotion battle.
The west Yorkshiremen have had a good season and are on a great run having lost only two of their last 15 games.
They have lost only two home games this season 18-17 to Bridlington last month and a narrow 17-9 defeat by current league-leaders Pocklington in the second game of the season.
Their last league outing a couple of weeks ago saw them record a 42-30 victory in a thriller at Huddersfield YMCA.
Scarborough themselves have been no slouches recently having won five of their last six outings; the most recent being the 36-18 defeat of Knottingley at Silver Royd a fortnight ago.
The Seasiders have won three out of their last four on the road and with promotion on the home side’s mind; Scarborough in sixth position and safe from relegation should be relaxed going into the game.
Tomorrow Rob Squire returns on the right wing in a fairly settled Scarborough side which welcomes back the influential Luke Raines in the back row.
Wing Corey Dennis, who has missed a couple of games with a persistant groin injury, joins Jason Lowde and Jaxon Tite on the bench.
When the sides met at Silver Royd in the corresponding game in November, Scarborough led 10-7 at half-time thanks to a Tom Ratcliffe try and five points from the boot of Tom Harrison.
Keighley fullback Alex Brown, who had converted winger Harry Titley’s first half try added two second-half penalties; the second coming four minutes from the end to grab a narrow 13-10 victory.
Scarborough skipper Nick Ingham will be looking for his men to avenge that defeat with another committed performance on the road tomorrow.
Elsewhere leaders Pocklingon travel to bottom club Castleford, promotion hopefuls Bridlington are at second-bottom Dinnington and second placed Driffield entertain York.
At Silver Royd the Vikings entertain Hull Ionians with the Danesmen playing hosts to Withernsea.
All games kick off at 3pm.
