Two Scarborough fighters are hoping to be roared on to victory when they make their local debuts at the Spa later this month.
Mixed martial arts fighter Simon Neale and Onur Caglar are part of an 11-fight bill at the Spa’s Grand Hall on Saturday February 23, and both of them can’t wait to get in the cage come fight night.
Neale, who is topping the bill against Liverpudlian Dan Welsh, said: “It’s my first professional fight in my home-town - it was short notice but I’m looking forward to it.
“Even with the short notice, my training has been going great.
“I had a bit of time off after breaking my hand and I think it’s really done me good, I’m feeling better than ever at the minute.
“Dan is a very experienced fighter but his ground-game isn’t the best. My confidence is high, and my stand-up and ground work are very good, I’ll win the fight.
“Ticket sales are coming on nicely but we need as many people as possible down there, getting behind the local lads.”
Caglar is set to take on Ash Atkinson from Worcester, and he is in confident mood.
Caglar said: “I can’t wait to fight in Scarborough.
“Me and Simon travel to fights all over so it’ll be nice to be in our home town, fighting in front of friends and family.
“I don’t know too much about Ash, I believe it’s only his second fight so I haven’t been able to get too much information on him. I know I’m in great shape - my training has been intense since Christmas.
“I went to The Spa as a kid, it feels like a proper venue. We’re more used to fighting in nightclubs so this will be special.”
Organiser Gary Sivills, who is a fighter himself, is optimistic that tickets will sell well.
He said: “Tickets are £30 or £45 cage side. Anyone wanting tickets should ring me on 07969985480.”
