York Senior League: Flixton held by Beverley

Folkton & Flixton CC drew with Beverley Town 2nds in Division One of the York Senior League.

Stu Stocks was in fine form with the bat, hitting 68 not out as the hosts made 225-8, Rich Malthouse adding 35 and Anthony Stones chipping in with 24.

Connor Bowden was the pick of the vistiting bowling attack, claiming 4-54.

In reply, 86 from Michael Cooke was the top score in the Town innings, as they fell 14 runs short of their victory target, closing on 212-7.

Lee Elvidge and Jamie Nesfield each picked up a brace of wickets for Flixton who remain fourth in the league standings.

Elsewhere in the division, Bridlington 1sts were beaten by Whitkirk, depsite an unbeaten half-century from Harry Burnhill.

Whitkirk were dismissed for 178 after being put into bat, but Brid fell well short in reply and mustered a total of just 83 despite Burnhill’s 50 not out.

Sewerby CC 1sts ran out of overs in their run-chase against Patrington.

Stewart Guy (67) and Jack Eggett (45no) put on 93 for the sixth wicket as the hosts made 240-6 batting first, Lewis Beasley and Adrian Long each grabbing a pair of wickets for Sewerby.

Long (25), Harry Gunning (21) and Sam Wragg (27) all made starts in the visitors’ reply, but it was Beasley’s 80 and 39 not out from Mike Artley that took them to 224-8, 17 runs shy of their victory target.

Malton & Old Malton remain favourites to join leaders Whitkirk in the Premier Division after they beat Hornsea by seven wickets.

Thomas Bumby took 7-36 as the visitors were bowled out for just 125.

Neil Johnson and Shaun Harland both made 35 in reply to help the home side to 126-3 in reply, making it seven wins from their last eight games.

In the Premier Division, Pickering won at Bolton Percy by eight wickets.

Tim Whincup (4-57) and Kieran Bowes (3-35) helped bowl out the hosts for 222 despite Jamie Rigby’s 62 and 42 from Ed Noble.

In reply, Chris Nichols (57), Colin Frank (62) and Ryan Bowes (50) all made half-centuries to help their side to 226-2, a first win in five attempts.
