A VERY special guest arrived in town over the weekend, with Santa swapping the North Pole for Scarborough.

And he used some Christmas magic to appear at two garden centres at the same time!

Children lined up to see him arrive, and although his reindeer were at home resting ahead of Christmas eve, he still managed to bring along some elves to help him dish out presents.

He will spend the next few weekends in his grotto at both Irton and Dean’s garden centre, finding out which children have been naughty and which have been nice.

Dean’s appear to be back on his good list, as it is receiving its first visit from him for ten years.

Elaine Harrison, indoor manager for the centre, said: “We’ve had some good reports about him and the kids are all excited to see him.

“We’re hoping that he comes back to see us next year.”

Judith Dean is the genera manager of the Irton Garden Centre, and she said that kids couldn’t wait to see Santa.

She said: “He arrived in a pony and trap and all the kids were lined up and waving at him as he came past. All the kids have been very happy all day, and they are always pleased to see him.”

Santa will be at both stores on Saturday and Sunday only in the lead up to Christmas.

For times and prices, please contact the respective stores. All proceeds raised by Santa’s visit will be donated to charity.
