CHORTLE award winner and former Perrier award nominee Alex Horne takes his new comedy show Wordwatching to Whitby on Saturday.
Alex is co-creator and presenter of the BBC4 programme We Need Answers (also featuring Mark Watson and 2009 Eddie award winner Tim Key).
He is regarded among critics, comics and audiences as a thoughtful and original stand-up comedian and writer.
In Wordwatching, a hi-tech, joke-filled extravaganza, Alex traces the highs and lows of his absurd, ambitious and ridiculous campaign to get invented words accepted into an English dictionary. The quest forms the focus of his latest book, out this month.
After making considerable progress, his verbal inventions appeared on several TV shows, in national newspapers and in Eurofruit, a trade magazine for fresh-produce buyers.
Alex’s show, starting at 8pm, is being promoted by Musicport and the Hilarity Bites Comedy Club.
Featuring tour shows from some of the best names on the UK comedy circuit, the club is based at Whitby Coliseum.
Tickets cost 6 in advance from Musicport at the Port Hole in Skinner Street, Whitby, and 8 on the door.
The season continues with Robin Ince Vs the Moral Majorityon March 27 and concludes with Richard Herring’s show Hitler Moustache on April 17.
