FOUR Scarborough ballet dancers have pulled off their latest move with aplomb after passing a major exam.

Hannah Whelan, Christina Severn, Sophie Merrett and Anna Megson-Reid, who all trained at the Benson Stage Academy, have gained their full elementary in the UK Alliance United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing.

The tough exam tested the girls on all aspects of their dancing skills, including bar work, adagio and allegro.

Barbara Benson, from the academy, said the girls thoroughly deserved their rewards.

She said: “I am delighted for them because they have worked very hard for this.

“They are lovely girls and have been with the school since they were five-years-old.”

The girls are now set to go off to university though Christine will remain in the town for a short time longer for a special show organised by Karen Matthews later this month.
