A SCARBOROUGH press photographer has had two of his pictures exhibited in London.

Richard Ponter, a 41-year-old staff photographer with the Evening News, submitted the pictures for an exhibition to celebrate 60 years of photojournalism training by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).

He said he was shocked when he heard that his work had been chosen. He added: “It was a nice surprise. I just submitted them and I didn’t think any more about it.”

The exhibition was held at the Guardian building and there were contributions from photographers working for national news agencies such as Reuters and the Press Association.
