FRENCH students at the Graham Raincliffe Federation were treated to a performance from a renowned theatre company.

The show, in the school’s newly refurbished auditorium, was in French and many students, who were from years seven and eight, took to the stage to participate.

Laurence Santeix, head of foreign languages, said: “We want to encourage students to have a love and understanding of languages. Being able to communicate in another language is a great skill to have.”

A spokesperson for the Flying Theatre Company added: “We hope to leave a lasting impression on the students, which will motivate them to explore other cultures and stimulate their interest in learning another language so they may benefit from the doors that this can open.”

Foreign languages students at the Graham Raincliffe Federation are now looking forward to putting their skills into practice.

Later in the school year pupils in years seven and eight will go on a trip to the Opal Coast in northern France while years nine, 10 and 11 students will visit Paris.
