A SCARBOROUGH village is gearing up for a mammoth 900th anniversary celebration.
Organisers have put together a stellar weekend of entertainment to mark Hutton Buscel’s big day.
The festivities will take place between Friday, September 16 and Sunday, September 18, with the Bishop of Whitby preaching and rededicating the bells at a special Songs of Praise service.
The weekend will include a whole host of events and will start with a Friday evening reception and visit from Scarborough author Graham Taylor.
Saturday’s line-up includes a number of family events, with an organ recital in the church and evening concerts by Scarborough Celebration Singers and Manhattan Voices, with Sunday featuring a Centenary Market, an exhibition by Scarborough Archaeological and Historical Society and a series of talks on the early history of Hutton Buscel and West Ayton.
The weekend will end with a Songs of Praise Service with the Bishop of Whitby, the Rt Rev Martin Warner, which will be followed by a ninth Centenary Party and Grand Draw in the Village Hall.
