The Scarborough Jazz Christmas party is on Wednesday December 19 at The Cask.

This is always a fun and happy event with the emphasis on music and is largely an open mic night.

The Mike Gordon Trio will back anyone who wishes to sing or play. Anybody wishing to perform should ring Mike on 01723 379818 so that he can allocate slots for them.

Saxophonist Julia Wray will play several numbers throughout the evening and will support Pat Brown on tenor sax through a couple of arrangements that Julia has made.

Among the singers who will entertain us is Dave Clark, who is a welcome regular at the party.

The club’s newest committe member Sarah Dyson, will play her tenor sax in public for the first time.

Apart from the musical aspect of the party, there will be a bumper raffle, a light-hearted music quiz and food for all.

Entry is just £3 on the door and the party kicks off at 8.45pm. The club now takes a two-week break until the new year.

Trumpeter Ian Chalk and reeds man Steve Whitehead play the club on January 9 followed by guitarist Jim Birkett on January 16.
