ACTOR and comedian Duggie Brown has joined the cast of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice which is heading for a week-long run in Scarborough.
He will play club owner Mr Boo in the show which also stars former Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, the Upper Hand’s Joe McGann, X Factor finalist Ray and Jess Robinson in the title role.
Jim Broadbent played Mr Boo in the film which was made in Scarborough. A club at Cayton was used as Mr Boo’s.
Duggie, who has appeared in Brookside, Heartbeat and Doctors, was on the Scarborough stage last year when Northern Broadsides brought We Are Three Sisters to the Stephen Joseph Theatre.
Written by JIm Cartwright, who is also directing the latest touring version of his work, Little Voice is about a young woman who has the talent to imitate some of the world’s greatest singers – including Judy Garland and Shirley Bassey. Her mum’s boyfriend Ray Say tries to exploit her talent by booking her a slot at Mr Boo’s.
It runs at the Futurist from Monday September 10 to Saturday September 15, daily at 7.30pm with matinees on Wednesday and Satruday at 2pm.
