THE hits of Lady Gaga provide the soundtrack to a new musical performed by students at the Westwod campus of Yorkshire Coast College.

Gaga will be performed by students in the second and final year of a muscial theatre course later this month.

“This show is a series of individual stories that come together through songs by Lady Gaga. There will be emotion, high drama, amazing and unique costumes, lighting effects and a truly extrovert performance,” said student and perfomer Leona Dale.

Director Maggie Slaughter said: “We chose Lady Gaga because she is iconic and current. She’s all about different messages – gender, lust, sex and fashion.”

There are six principals and a chorus in the show which will include Poker Face, Bad Romance, Born This Way, Telephone and Hair.

Stuart Metcalfe, second year musical theatre representative said: “We have used Gaga as our inspiration to tell our truly emotional stories and with the support of the first years our stories combine to give a portrayal of fame and celebrity lifestyles and what this limelight can mask in reality and real life.

“We have loved every minute of creating this show and its one not to be missed.”

It is on at Westwood Theatre in the Round, Valley Bridge, Scarborough, on Thursday June 21 and Friday June 22, daily at 7.30pm. Not suitable for under 15s.

Tickets are £5, £3.50 for students and can be booked on (01723) 361960.
