Staintondale and Ravenscar History Group will be staging a series of free events as part of the Heritage Open Days on September 8 and 9.
These will include a local history exhibition in the St Hilda’s Church.
On both days Val Russell will present a slide show of Postcards of Old Ravenscar in the church at 2pm.
On Saturday at 10am there will be a guided walk (which does not go to the old alum works), showing Ravenscar’s industrial past, and at 1pm a walk to the alum works with a National Trust warden to explore Alum – The First Chemical Industry. Dogs on leads are welcome, and booking is advisable. Please ring Val on 870801.
Heritage Days are a chance to see places not normally open to the public.
In Scarborough events include tours backstage at the Futurist and Stephen Joseph theatres.
