More than 100 performers, more than a 100 feet of garland and a 10ft high pine tree are just some of the ingredients of A Christmas Cracker.

The themed variety show featuring song, dance, drama, comedy and magic is on at the YMCA, Scarborough.

Cast’s ages range from eight to to 74 with those takingpart drawn from Rowlies Academy of Dance, YMCA Spotlight Theatre School, Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet, Variety School of Dancing and YMCA Productions.

“It is a true YMCA community effort and a coming together of all these groups to celebrate Christmas,” said Graham Ibbotson who is directing the show with Jane Daniels.

“It Jane’s first time at directing and I’ve not turned my hand to it since 1999,” said Graham.

“We have been assisted by Mellissa Jones, Gillian Marshall and Sadie Collinson. I must say the support and help from everyone has been exceptional.

“The talent of these young people never ceases to amaze me, what a privilege it has been to work with them.

“This show should kick the festive season off to a flying start and chase away those winter blues.

“It promises to have some fantastic lighting, sound and special effects provided by our theatres talented voluntary technicians.”

The show isw on at the YMCA, St Thomas Street, on Friday November 30 and Saturday December 1 at 7.30pm and Sunday December 2 at 2pm.
