The latest name to be announced for Scarborough Spa’s 2014 entertainment programme is rock legend Brian May.
The Queen guitarist will team up with rock goddess Kerry Ellis for a candlelit, acoustic show in the Spa’s Grand Hall on Friday February 21.
This will be one of just three dates on the pair’s Born Free Tour.
This much-requested return by Brian May and Kerry Ellis to the stage presents the Yorkshire Coast with a rare opportunity to witness one of the world’s greatest ever guitar players performing in a close-up situation, paired with the uniquely powerful voice of Britain’s newest First Lady of song.
The session is being performed in aid of the Born Free Foundation – which fights for the protection of the world’s wildlife.
Kerry Ellis was the creator of the role of Meat in Queen’s Rock theatrical We Will Rock Yo, and went on to become a sensation on both sides of the Atlantic starring as the Green Witch in the musical Wicked.
Helen Broadbent, the Spa’s general manager, said: “To have such a great music icon play the Grand Hall is very special and will be one of the highlights of our 2014 programme. We are all looking forward to hearing some Queen classics and a host of other anthems performed in a beautiful fashion by candlelight. It’s sure to be a wonderful spectacle.”
Tickets go on sale from The Spa Box Office and via www.scarboroughspa.co.uk on Wednesday October at 30 9am, priced at £39.
