Burton Agnes Hall festival is all jazzed up

The Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has announced that more artists have been added to their line-up.

These include some of Yorkshire’s finest musicians who perform as New York Brass Band, the incredibly talented Pat McCarthy Quartet featuring Shannon Reilly, festival favourites the Alligators, the fresh and exciting Jamie Brownfield Quartet.

They will join headliners already announced: internationally renowned vocalist Claire Martin with legendary saxophonist and singer Ray Gelato, along with Northern Ireland’s multi-award winning Kaz Hawkins.

With Thom Whitworth on trumpet and guitar, Warren Jolly on bass and Shannon Reilly singing, the Pat McCarthy Quartet presents a warm and melodic repertoire of standards and original songs in a modern vein.

These talented and engaging musicians perform the very best of jazz and swing, from 1930s classics to the new generation of modern jazz hits.

Pat has played with Jamie Cullum, Snake Davis, George Melly and Dennis Rollins amongst others; Shannon is a vocalist of exceptional quality whose spellbinding performances have captivated audiences.

In constant demand as a session player, Warren has played with some of the best known names in jazz and pop and toured with Blur, Simon Webb and the Drifters. Creative and fluent on two very different instruments: the trumpet and guitar,

Thom has won various accolades and is a rising star on the jazz club and festival circuit.

Seamlessly interwoven with effortless musicianship and a few anecdotes, this is a perfect way to relax and enjoy an evening of the sweetest sounds.

Hailing from the ancient streets of York, New York Brass Band are North Yorkshire’s only contemporary New Orleans inspired brass band and have played all over the UK and Europe since 2011.

A powerful team of some of Yorkshire’s finest musicians, NYBB forms an arsenal of percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones and sousaphone with a varied repertoire of styles from jazz to pop, reggae to funk and New Orleans to ska.

This is a band that blurs the line between band and audience by inviting the crowd to become part of the show and ending the performance in the audience.

The festival runs from June 30 to July 2.
