SCARBOROUGH’S Open Air Theatre is set to welcome three “major” acts, the Evening News can reveal.
Bosses from Scarborough Council have announced they are currently thrashing out negotiations with performers to boost this summer’s programme.
Jim Dillon, the council’s chief executive, said: “The council has been working for some time on a programme for the Open Air Theatre to compliment Apollo’s 2012 programme.
“We hope to be in a position to announce three major acts in the next few days, with further acts being announced shortly after that.
“While we understand the concerns shared by the public and local businesses about the delay of an announcement for this year’s programme, this is the earliest we have been able to make an announcement due to complexities involved in confirming the bookings.
“We are incredibly excited about the upcoming programme and think there will be something for everyone included within it.”
