TALENTED young musicians at Scarborough Music Centre hit all the right notes at two recent open sessions.

Children and parents came from across the Scarborough and Ryedale area to see and hear the variety of orchestras and ensembles which meet twice a week at the centre, which is based at Scarborough Sixth Form College.

Spokeswoman Janet Corrie said: “It was a busy day on Saturday and last night, with people coming to see what’s on offer at the Music Centre.

“We’ve got a wide range of bands, from our beginners’ instrumental group for those in the early stages of their musical development up to bands like Easy Jazz and SAYSO (the Scarborough Area Youth Symphony Orchestra).

“It was lovely to see people coming in and having a look round.

“There were some parents talking about when they were members 25 or more years ago and they were amazed at the wide range of different ensembles on offer and how much it has expanded over the years.”

The music centre operates every Saturday morning and Monday evening, attracting children from age six to 18, and concerts are held throughout the year. Two summer concerts are coming up on Saturday, June 25 and July 2 at Westborough Methodist Church.
