The Spa team are tuning up for the forthcoming Scarborough Jazz Festival – headlined by violinist Nigel Kennedy – at the complex later this month.
More than 560 weekend tickets have been sold and the Saturday night gig with Nigel Kennedy and John Etheridge is heading for a full house.
“More than 800 tickets have been sold already. The festival organisers want to retain the cabaret seating and atmosphere in the Grand Hall so they are putting a cap on the number of tickets sold for this performance,” said festival director Mike Gordon
“ The advice is to buy tickets very soon,” he said.
The festival takes place from Friday September 26 to Sunday September 28.
The weekend programme is:
Friday : Anita Wardell sings Johnny Mandel with the Alan Barnes Septet, Henry Lowther and the Greens, Theo Jackson & Nathaniel Facey, 7 Pieces Of Silver, Ollie Howell Quintet.
Saturday: Nigel Kennedy, John Etheridge and Band, Clark Tracey Quartet, Time Zone, Sarah Moule with the Simon Wallace Trio, Jazz ExTemporé.
Sunday: Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band, Iain Ballamy & Stian Carstensen, Paradox Ensemble, Gwilym Simcock, Dennis Rollins’ Velocity Trio, The Stretch Trio, Stephen Joseph Funky Choir.
People travel from all over the world to attend the three-day event which is in its 12th year.
