There is a new pairing for Scarborough Jazz at The Cask on Wednesday November 13 in the form of Rob McGrath and Thom Whitworth.
Rob studied clarinet and sax at school in Hull and was a member of the Hull Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Geoff Laycock.
After spending eight years as a Royal Marine bandsman, he left to study jazz at Middlesex University with tutors who included Pete Churchill and Nikki Iles.
Rob has played with many different ensembles including the Memphis Belle and the Moonlight Serenade Orchestras.
Thom Whitworth plays trumpet and guitar, switching between them with ease. He has won many accolades including prize winner in the Kenny Baker Memorial Competition and Perrier Jazz Awards semi-finalist.
He is a member of the Matt Smith Quartet and plays with the Pat McCarthy trio and big band.
Backing will be by The Mike Gordon Trio, the music begins at 8.45pm and admission will be £5.
Jim Corry plays the venue on Wednesday November 20 at 7.45pm.
