Scarborough Spa Orchestra plays the music of Ivor Novello

One of the most popular gala concerts presented by the Scarborough Spa Orchestra is its celebration of the stage musicals of Ivor Novello.

Because these shows are so lavish and costly to produce, they are rarely but the songs have never lost their appeal.

The Spa Orchestra’s Glamorous Night with Ivor Novello takes to the Spa stage on Thursday 5 September when the songs will be performed by Alison Hudson, Owen Webb and Marilyn Hill Smith.

The Spa Orchestra’s show will include more tahn 40 of Novello’s melodies from Perchance to Dream, King’s Rhapsody and, of course, Glamorous Night.

The programme also features the first song that brought Novello lasting fame, Keep the Home Fires Burning.

The last Teddy Bears’ Picnic will be held in the Suncourt on Monday September 2 at 1pm. Led by Kathy Seabrook, they give youngsters an introduction to the joys of music

Orchestral Showstoppers will be performed at the Spa on Thursday August 29 at 7.30pm .
