X FACTOR winner Alexandra Burke will join JLS as special guest at their summer show at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre.
The 23-year-old R&B star, who shot to fame after beating the boy band to the 2008 television singing contest title, will share the stage with her former rivals at their August 18 show.
Tickets for the concert are still on sale through www.ticketmaster.co.uk
Scarborough Council leader Tom Fox said: “Alexandra Burke is an incredible singer and in my view one of the most talented solo artists to emerge from The X Factor process.
“It will be great to see her on the same stage as JLS – I think fans are in for a spectacular night’s entertainment.
“The council is working tirelessly to bring top acts to the Open Air Theatre this summer and I am delighted with the progress that we have been able to make so far.”
Burke, whose current single, Elephant – the first track from her as yet unreleased second album, has just gone into the charts at number three – has sold more than four million records in the UK alone.
She adds to an already impressive summer line-up at the venue which includes singing legend Dionne Warwick on June 6, Olly Murs on July 15, and tenor Russell Watson on August 4.
Special guests and support acts for those shows are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive, Gary Verity, added: “Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre is a special venue and I’m thrilled to see the council’s efforts paying off. I’m confident accommodation providers, restaurateurs and retailers will see a noticeable benefit.”
