Young musicians join the Spa Orchestra for a gala evening of light and popular music in the Grand Hall, Scarborough, next week.
Members of Scarborough Arrea Youth Symphony Orchestra will play five pieces with the last remaining professional seaside orchestra.
They include Skaters’ Waltz and a selection from My Fair Lady.
Also on the programme are themes from the Harry Potter films, a selection from Oliver! and the Blue Peter theme.
“This innovative idea started life last summer as an experiment, and it was so successful that there was no hesitation in repeating it this year,” said Stephen Walker, the Spa Orchestra’s press officer and archvist.
“The Spa audience members agreed that it was great to see these young musicians encouraged to play to professional standards – and succeeding,” he said.
The concert is on Thursday September 12 at 7.30pm.
The music of Ivor Novello is celebrated by the Spa Orchestra in a concert on Thursday September 5 at 7.30pm.
