Scarborough Literature Festival got under way today.
Chairman of North Yorkshire County Council Cllr Cliff Trotter said: “Each year we expect bigger and better things and the seventh festival has not disappointed.
“The event is a credit to the hard work of the library staff and festival volunteers. The festival is appreciated by authors and audiences.”
The first guest was Last of the Summer Wine director Alan JW Bell.
The festival runs until Sunday April 14 and is based at the library in Vernon Road.
