A Tribute to Atlantic Jazz - a sizzling septet - returns to Scarborough Jazz Club at The Cask. Wednesday December 5.

This band celebrates the music and musicians recorded by the Atlantic record label.

The band bristles with talent from the co-leaders Jim Corry , alto sax, and James Russell , baritone sax, to Stuart McDonald, tenor, and Steve Parry, trumpet. Their great rhythm section has Andy Cholerton, piano, Richard Hammond, bass) and drummer Chris Sykes.

The musicians romp through a repertoire that includes material from Freddie Hubbard, the Adderley brothers, Hank Crawford and some of the ‘soul jazz’ from the 1950s and 60s.

The band has spent many hours transcribing music from the historic recordings and skilfully arranging it to suit their particular instrumentation.

Promoter Mike Gordon was responsible for their first public performance when he booked them for Scarborough Jazz.

Since then they have appeared at many festivals and jazz clubs to great acclaim.

Fans of exciting jazz played with verve and zest should not miss this gig. Tickets cost £6 (£5 in advance) and the music starts at 8.45pm.
