Young people are being offered the chance to be a part of the magic in the Stephen Joseph Theatre’s Christmas production, Aladdin.
The theatre is holding auditions next month for its summer bootcamp, for children aged between 10 and 15 years.
There are 40 places available and following the week-long bootcamp, the venue will offer up to 18 participants a chorus part in the play.
Aladdin sees the Stephen Joseph artistic director Chris Monks team up with writer Andrew Pollard in a modern take on the folk tale.
It will be playing in the Round from December 1 to January 3.
The first stage of auditions take place on Monday June 2 and Wednesday June 4, from 4.30pm to 6.30pmpm at the theatre, and will be run by Chris Monks.
Auditions are in 30-minute sessions for groups of 10. Applicants are not required to prepare material but are asked to bring their dancing shoes.
Successful applicants will be offered a place on the theatre’s OutReach summer bootcamp which runs from August 11 to 15 and costs £45.
Bursaries are available subject to application.
Audition packs are available from the theatre box office and OutReach.
Previous Christmas productions have included Beauty and the Beast: A Space Adventure and The Nutcracker.
