A stretch of road outside Sir Jimmy Savile’s flat in Esplanade has been renamed Savile’s View.
The sign went up yesterday and it is understood that an official naming ceremony could be held next week.
Cllr David Jeffels, the chairman of the Sir Jimmy Savile Memorial Steering Group said he hoped that the Mayor of Scarborough would be able to carry out the official duty.
He added: “I am hoping it will be done next Friday. We’ve still got a plan for a memorial but that’s going to be a while yet.”
The news follows last week’s unveiling of the superstar’s headstone in Woodlands Cemetery and a gilt plaque outside his flat.
