Epic classics, a family blockbuster, a Jacques Tati film and a football documentary kick off the spring season in the cinema at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre.

Hidden Figures tells the true story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe), three African-American women working at NASA.

The Lego Batman Movie follows the DC Comics character as he attempts to overcome his greatest fear to stop the Joker’s latest plan.

To celebrate the fourth annual Scarborough Sci-Fi event, the venue is presenting a one-off screening of Time Bandits.

Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson portray Lord and Lady Mountbatten in Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’s House which follows the couple through the partition of India in 1947.

The Time of Their Lives stars Joan Collins as a fading movie star who enlists the help of a friend (Pauline Collins) to go to an ex-lover’s funeral in France.

Lawrence of Arabia was David Lean’s masterwor. Peter O’Toole stars as TE Lawrence, who united and led the diverse arab tribes during World War I in order to fight the Turks
