Coast and Vale Learning Trust is on the look-out for new school governors as well as for new trustees and members. All roles are voluntary.

“We’re looking for people interested in schools who are keen to find new and creative solutions to recurring issues. It’s a challenge that’s both satisfying and rewarding,” said Brian Crosby, chief executive of the trust.

Becoming a school governor means joining the biggest group of volunteers in the country.

“We’re particularly looking for people who enjoy getting involved in strategic discussions at board level and can use their own experiences to enrich debate.

“Experience in any of these subjects – finance, health and safety, HR, compliance and legal matters – would be useful but we’re also looking for enthusiasm. This could be to enhance people’s CVs or, for people who are retired, as a stimulating way to give something back to society,” added Mr Crosby.

School governors work for the good of individual schools, whereas trustees have a strategic overview of all schools in the trust.

“Members ensure trustees are fulfilling their responsibilities – we have vacancies in all areas.”
