It later announced that other members of its team had tested positive for coronavirus, with no symptoms present.

The pub has been working closely with Scarborough Borough Council, the Environment Agency, Health Care England, and NHS Test and Trace.

It has posted on social media: "We will be having a full deep clean of the entire pub and ready to open our doors and welcome you lovely lot next Wednesday.

"Our team would like to thank all of our loyal customers and local businesses for the support and well wishes through these difficult times and we look forward to seeing you soon."
