More than 20 new Covid-19 positive cases recorded in borough, as affected Scarborough pub New Tavern is set to reopen

The news comes as figures reveal a sharp rise in the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Scarborough borough recorded since Thursday.

The New Tavern, on Falsgrave Road, shut on Monday after a customer tested positive for the disease.

It said on its Facebook page that anyone who was affected would be contacted by the test and trace system.

The pub said a deep clean would be carried out and staff would be tested.

Meanwhile, the number of cases of coronavirus in Scarborough is still increasing.

Government figures updated late this afternoon showed there have been 729 confirmed cases in the borough so far - up from 706 reported by the Government on Thursday.
