Sainsbury's seeks permission to sell alcohol at its petrol stations in Scarborough and Whitby

Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has applied for permission to sell alcohol from its petrol stations in the borough.

The national chain has fuelling stations at its stores in Scarborough and Whitby but does not currently sell alcohol from either.

It has now lodged two separate licence applications with Scarborough Council to allow off sales from both sites.

The application for the Falsgrave Road store in Scarborough is out for public consultation until April 30.

For the Whitby store in Stainsacre Lane the supermarket has applied to be able to sell alcohol from the forecourt site from 6am until midnight seven days a week.

The closing date for the Whitby application is May 1.
