A Whitby fish and chip restaurant could be expanding

The Fisherman’s Wife in Khyber Pass wants to create a “dog-friendly” area for people to have takeaways from the restaurant.

The restaurant was named as one of the 10 finalists for the 2020 National Fish & Chip Awards earlier this year.

The planning application for a change of use for the land submitted to Scarborough Council states: “The proposal is for an external seating and takeaway area to an existing fish and chip restaurant to provide much-needed expansion and dog-friendly facilities.

“The site is to be accessed via a new opening in the stone boundary wall.”

A takeaway service hatch will be created for people using the area to place their orders.

The plans are now out to consultation.
