A small Young Farmers Club in the Scarborough area has received more than 1,000 views for a video it put together within a matter of hours of it going live on social media.

The members of Snainton Young Farmers Club had been thinking about taking part in the ‘toilet roll challenge’ that has been very popular – a craze started by celebrities at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic with participants passing a toilet roll between each other and videoing keeping it in the air.

Chairman Aaron Todd said: “We wanted to do something to keep morale up among members as – like all young farmers clubs – our meetings are cancelled.

“The idea was to promote the best of British food; so the video captures me trying to make a traditional Sunday roast and not having any of the ingredients.

“I put an SOS call out and the members appear in the film throwing me different items such as potatoes, beef, carrots and even milk, eggs and flour for Yorkshire Puddings.

“I was really capped with the video and couldn’t believe it when within only hours of it appearing on Facebook it received 1,000 views.

“Something that has come out of this awful time is that the public seems more interested in where their food comes from and I’m really proud that we’ve done our bit to help promote British farming.”
