There have been social media posts from parents worried about the number of people from the college who are being asked to stay at home.

A spokesperson for the college did not reveal how many staff or students are self-isolating, but said some are at home as a precaution and not all have tested positive for the disease.

The spokesperson said: "We are aware that parents are becoming concerned because some staff and students are currently self-isolating.

"However, we want to reassure them that this is just a precaution and does not mean that those staff and students have coronavirus.

"We are simply following the Public Health England guidelines to make sure that everyone is as safe as possible at college.

"We completely understand their worries at the current time and a communication is being sent out to all parents today to keep them informed."
