Bridlington School tells even more pupils to self-isolate; every student in FOUR year groups must now stay at home

Even more students at a Yorkshire Coast School where youngsters from five year groups were already self-isolating have been told to stay home.

All of Year 9 at Bridlington School are now off after a second pupil in that year group tested positive for coronavirus.

Fifty students in Year 9 had been asked to stay at home on Tuesday after a different pupil received a positive test.

The school posted on its website today: "Today we have received confirmation that a member of Year 9 has tested positive for Covid-19. One hundred per cent of Year 9 are now self-isolating.

"This is a different case to the Year 9 case on Tuesday.

"The student was last in school on Friday, November 6 showing no symptoms. Symptoms started on Saturday."

In addition to the Year 9 students, 80 of the school's Year 10 students and all of Year 8, Year 12 and Year 13 are self-isolating after other students tested positive for coronavirus.

All of Year 7 and Year 11 are still expected in school, as well as 104 pupils in Year 10.

The school said on its website: "The safety of students and staff is of highest importance. The whole school is deep cleaned every night."

Year 8 students are due back in school on November 20, Year 9 on November 24, the 80 Year 10 students on November 23, and both Years 12 and 13 on November 23.
