Latest coronavirus infection rates show cases rising in Scarborough borough

Coronavirus infection rates have risen yet again in Scarborough.

The latest figures, updated late yesterday afternoon, show the borough has a seven-day infection rate of 251 per 100,000.

That is up from 247.3 the previous day, and from 170 this time last week.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 3,536 confirmed cases of the disease in the Scarborough borough.

Six extra mobile testing units will be deployed to Scarborough over the festive period in a bid to identify cases.

There will also be testing units at Filey Country Park and Thornton-le-Dale's National Trust car park today, Scarborough Park and Ride on Wednesday, December 23, and Whitby Marina car park and Malton's Wentworth Street car park on Christmas Eve,

Tests for all sites must be booked in advance.
