New Covid-19 case means Scarborough borough has its highest infection rate since late June

A new coronavirus case has been confirmed in Scarborough for the second time in the last seven days.

Figures from the government, released today, show that a positive test was recorded on Monday following an earlier case on Saturday August 8.

The data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough or sent a test to take at home.

Previously, the last case in the borough was on July 29 and before that July 3.

The total number of confirmed cases in Scarborough since the start of the pandemic now stands at 564.

It means Scarborough’s seven-day infection rate has now risen to 0.3, its highest level since late June, the last time the borough had more than one confirmed case in a seven day period.
