One of Scarborough's most popular restaurants closes after customer tests positive for coronavirus
A Scarborough restaurant has shut because of coronavirus.
Florios Ristorante in Aberdeen Walk announced it was closing yesterday after a customer got in touch to say they had tested positive for the disease.
It said it was contacting all customers who were in the restaurant at the same time as that person on Sunday, September 13 between 7pm and 8.30pm.
The restaurant posted on social media yesterday: "We have been informed by a customer that they have tested positive for Covid-19.
"For the safety of our customers, staff and wider community, we feel we have no choice but to close the restaurant with immediate effect.
"We are currently contacting all customers who were in the restaurant at the same time as this customer.
"All of our staff will undergo Covid-19 tests and we are organising a deep clean of the restaurant.
"We hope to open the restaurant again as soon as we can.
"Sincere apologies to anyone who has a booking tonight or in the next days. Thank you all for your understanding and continued support."
The latest Government figures, updated late yesterday afternoon, showed there have been 677 confirmed cases in the Scarborough borough so far.
On Friday the borough was declared "an area of concern" by the Government.
