Scarborough borough has been clear of coronavirus for two weeks, as no positive tests recorded since early July

It has now been two weeks since the last confirmed coronavirus case in the Scarborough borough.

Figures from the government show that one positive test was recorded on July 3, since then there have been no new infections.

The data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough or sent a test to take at home.

Before July 3, the last confirmed case in Scarborough was on June 23. The total number of confirmed cases in Scarborough since the start of the pandemic now stands at 561.

It means Scarborough’s seven-day infection rate is now 0.

The number of deaths involving Covid-19 in the borough stands at 70 according to the Government data, an increase of two from seven days ago.

The historical data also shows that the spike in cases in the borough came on April 26 when 32 new cases were recorded in one day. At that time Scarborough was averaging 13 new cases a week.

The first confirmed case in the borough came on March 13, 10 days before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced lockdown measures.

By the time lockdown came into effect, the borough had a total of 10 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
