He was in the bar last Friday from 5pm.

The pub posted on social media: "Public Health England will notify their close contacts.

"A contact is considered to be someone within one metre who has had a face-to-face conversation for one minute or longer, or someone within two metres for 15 minutes.

"The customer was in the baron Friday, September 11 from 5pm.

"Although Public Health England advise the virus will no longer be detected on any surface after 72 hours, we have taken the decision to close for 48 hours to enable an extensive deep clean throughout. It's the right thing to do."

Latest Government figures, updated late yesterday afternoon, show there have so far been 660 confirmed cases in the Scarborough borough.

That number is up six from the previous day.

North Yorkshire Resilience Forum has announced it is in emergency mode, with officials' concerns including the rising number of cases across the county, in particular, Selby and Harrogate districts as well as parts of Scarborough and Craven.

They also say there is growing evidence of increased community transmission, particularly in areas including Whitby.
